At less than 1.5 inches thick, the Essence features a 120Hz 42-inch LCD display with a response time of 2 milliseconds. The CinemaOne is meant for use in rooms other than the living room, such as bedrooms and offices, however. A single HDMI connection supplies the audio and video signals to a connected TV, and the CinemaOne system itself includes four speakers and an integrated 4-inch subwoofer into the main unit itself.

Media is delivered via the integrated DVD / CD player, with an iPod dock, USB port and 3.5mm stereo jack acting as auxiliary source connections. philips7003-lg.jpg

Philips USA on Tuesday refreshed its home theater lineup with a set of new HDTVs as well as a Blu-ray movie reader to match. The 7003 series acts as the flagship with a new, rounded design the HDTV maker says is less imposing than typically squared-off models; it also allows the company to tuck the speakers away from view while still producing better low-end response.

Each of the three TV sets in the line also has four HDMI inputs with CEC support for automatic input switching. The 42TA648BX, 42PFL3603, and 42PFL5603 are priced at $1,699, $1,999, and $2,699; all but the 5603 are available today, while the top model ships next month.

The 5003 series shares much of the same cosmetic detail and improved sound but scale back to the equally new but more modest Pixel Plus 3 HD image engine on most models as well as 60Hz panels. Versions scale from a basic 32-inch model at $799 (the 32PFL5403) through 42-, 47-, and 52-inch 5603-series models at prices of $1,799, $2,099, and $2,899. All four should already be in shops.

Philips Reveals Ultimate TVs, Blu-ray Player

Philips is lastly adding the BDP7200, the company’s second-generation Blu-ray reader and its first to support Blu-ray Profile 1.1’s picture-in-picture commentary feature. The 7200 includes a CEC-aware HDMI connection and 1080p upscaling for regular DVDs. Philips puts the player at the low end of going costs for Blu-ray drives with a $399 price and notes that it should be available today.

Philips promises an exciting, entertaining and engaging 3D experience with the introduction of a 52-inch 3D Display at InfoComm 2008 (June 18-20). The 52-inch 3D display, that immediately grabs the attention of the viewer in media-rich environments and creates ultimate 3D stop and holding power, is well positioned for professional use in the digital signage, pro-AV, and entertainment applications. Thanks to the WOWvx technology used in Philips 3D Displays, no special viewing glasses are needed.

Jos Swillens, CEO of Philips 3D Solutions: “With our new 52-inch 3D display in the portfolio, we can offer the pro-AV and digital signage market an even higher degree of immersion and a more exciting 3D viewing experience. Our broad range of 3D display product – in combination with our full range of content creation tools and our licensing program – makes us a true end-to-end 3D system solution provider”.

The 52-inch auto-stereoscopic 3D Display is based on a full HD (1920×1080) LCD panel, offering full brightness (700 cd/m2), full contrast (2000:1) and a response time of 8 ms. The WOWvx technology uses the 2D-plus-Depth format including Declipse, which gives additional occlusion information for a real 3D ‘look around’ effect. The 52-inch 3D Display will be commercially available from Q4 2008 onwards

Philips unveils home, personal audio products, LCD TV

Philips today introduced several new home and personal audio products, also a new line of LCD TVs. Pairing up with RealNetworks, the company’s new Streamium NP1100 relies on the 4.5 million track collection offered by Real’s Rhapsody network, as well as internet radio, and PC music libraries to bring audio to the home environment. The device uses a black and white display to show track information, and has a built-in WiFi receiver to connect with users’ home wireless networks. Philips expects to ship the NP1100 in May for $150. Accompanying the home player system are the GoGear portable music players ($110 - $200), which will also draw from RealNetworks’ Rhapsody service.
